Video: Birdman and his red Bugatti Veyron

Location: Miami, Florida. Movie star: Bugatti Veyron. The happy owner: Birdman.

Let’s start at the beginning. For those of you who do not know, Birdman is an American rapper and record executive from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the co-founder of Cash Money Records and one half of the duo, Big Tymers. Needless to say, money is not a problem for them. So spending $2 million on buying a red Bugatti Veyron is not as impressive as it might sound. For him at least!

And if you still need a reminder, the Bugatti Veyron supercar is powered by a quad-turbocharged W16 engine with a maximum output of 1001 horsepower and 1250 Nm of torque. It can hit a top speed of 252.3 mph. With all of that power, don’t be surprised if our next report on Birdman involves a very hefty speeding ticket! Thank goodness the States don’t price out tickets in accordance with your salary like they do in Switzerland!

Video: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport caught testing in Spain

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport shook the auto industry off its hinges when it debuted a couple of weeks ago and, in seemingly pedestrian fashion, proceeded to set the world speed record by clocking 268 mph at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessein track in Germany.

Not that we’re surprised by how fast the souped-up Veyron is – it’ a Bugatti, after all – but it was how it came out out nowhere and just grabbed the world’s attention in one fell swoop.

Now that it’s become the talk of the auto world, the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport has been getting its fair share of fans, all of which have been looking for the perfect opportunity to see the 1,200 horsepower beast up close and personal. Fortunately, the boys from Diariomotor chanced upon the golden goose when it was being tested somewhere in Spain and joined by two seemingly irrelevant standard Veyrons that completely lost their appeal when in the company of the record-setting 16.4 Super Sport.

Bugatti’s new supercar, which boasts of an 8.0-liter W16 engine that comes with four enlarged turbochargers and super-size intercoolers producing 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 lb/ft of torque, will head over to the production block later this year where a limited number of models will be produced for those rich enough to afford it.

Video: James May runs wild on a Bugatti Veyron Supersports

The auto industry was turned upside its head a few weeks ago when, from out of nowhere, the land speed record was eviscerated by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports after it posted a record time of 267.81 mph.

Shortly after the breaking news, reports began circulating that Top Gear may have been involved in the Veyron Super Sports’ record-breaking achievement. And while a lot of people shrugged at the notion of Top Gear playing a part in the whole spectacle, it turns out that while they weren’t directly involved in the land speed record attempt, one member of the show’s triumvirate got his chance behind the wheel of the supercar and set his own personal land speed record.

And wouldn’t you know it, that host turned out to be none other than ‘Captain Slow’ himself, James May. Ironic as the nickname sounds – and it’s a justifiable tag considering May’s not exactly known as a speed demon – James’ personal record of 259.11 mph, which he set at the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany, is most definitely need for speed material.

Details behind May’s time with the Veyron Super Sports are still being kept under wraps although you can expect it to be featured prominently in the August issue of Top Gear’s magazine, which is expected to hit news stands in the coming days.

Michael Schumacher’s Bugatti EB 110 Sport Stradale for sale

Bugatti unveiled the EB 110 to honor Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday (this is where the name comes from). It was powered by a 3.5-liter V12 with dual overhead camshafts and produced an impressive 550 HP. The SS version (Super Sport or Sport Stradale) developed a total of 715 HP and was limited to only 33 units.

One of those illustrious vehicles was owned by Michael Schumacher. Of course, that is, until recently. His sparkling, one of a kind yellow Bugatti is now available for sale on JamesList. The EB 110 comes from a high class collection and was never even used. The 2875 miles on it are proof that this baby barely saw the road. So, if anyone is in the market for a mint condition Bugatti EB 110 and has $745,680 to invest in a supreme automobile; this is your chance.

Check out Kobe Bryant and Aston Martin’s new kicks

Sometimes celebrities do things that make us want to scream and sometimes they do things that make us want to point and laugh. In a web film released back in 2008, Kobe Bryant made us cover our mouths and say, “Oh shit!” This film portrayed Kobe Bryant jumping – no trampoline, no bouncy surface – over a speeding Aston Martin DB9 Volante. The fans went nuts!

Now, two years after this film was released, Kobe Bryant and Aston Martin have teamed up to introduce the Nike Kobe Bryant (Aston Martin Edition) footwear pack. This footwear pack includes the Nike Hyperdunk (Aston Martin DB9 Edition) and the Nike Zoom Kobe V (Aston Martin Edition). These limited edition trainers were inspired by the DB9 and the One-77 supercar, detailing the elegance of the Aston Martin with some good old-fashioned sneaker craftsmanship. And we thought automakers would just continue to make timepieces and apparel.

The limited edition Nike Kobe Bryant (Aston Martin Edition) footwear pack will be introduced at the Nike Basketball Signature Space at the Staples Center, Los Angeles on May 13, 2010. To be honest, we don’t really think the shoes look anything like the amazing supercar they were inspired by, unless, of course, the silver color is taken into account, but we still wouldn’t turn down a pair.

The great thing about this event is that all event proceeds will be donated to the LA84 Foundation. The LA84 Foundation’s mission is “to serve youth through sport and to increase knowledge of sport and its impact on people’s lives”. They have been providing this service since 1985 when they were blessed with a surplus from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Hit the jump to see the film that inspired the Kobe Bryant/Aston Martin collaboration.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren meet Mr. Pavement

Speeding is one of the biggest factors that contributes to car accidents and probably the most tempting thing to do while operating a motor vehicle. No matter how enthralling an activity it may be, excessive speeding is just not smart. When people do stupid things, we are forced to show pictures like this.

It displeases us to present you with such horrific pictures. The disturbing images seen here are of a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren crash that took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia about three days ago. The driver of the car was speeding through a corner and suddenly lost control going head to head with the pavement. Apparently, this man wanted to dance with the devil and the devil, not so politely, rejected the invitation by slamming him to a stop. Miraculously, the man was unharmed during this debacle.

We’d like to thank our tipster for these exclusive photos!

9ff-tuned Porsche 911 GT9-R finds its way on Jameslist

The exotic car classified ads known as Jameslist has a new addition to its fleet: a 9ff-tuned Porsche 911-based GT9-R.

Numbered 00/20 – the ‘00’ means that it’s a prototype – the 9ff 911 is about as exclusive a car as you can find anywhere on the planet. And the price tag attached to it seems to think so too.

For a chance to own this rare beast, the owner has to fork over around $1.1 million. Too steep of a price tag, you say?

Well, consider first that it’s rare. Once you’ve gone past that, you can move on to the fact that it has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine that produces an output of 1,120 horsepower.

Still not convinced? Well then, here’s the clincher. With that much power under its hood, the 9ff 911has a top speed of 257 mph and can go flat out with a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds. Yes, 2.9 seconds.

That price tag’s looking more and more justified, doesn’t it?

Wrapped Pagani Zonda

We know a few reason why some people in the world shouldn’t be allowed to drive cars. And this poor Zonda is another reason. At its origins it was a silver car, but the owner decided to wrapped: in mate black with orange strips.

We do not like it, of course, but we have a good news: the wrap its just temporary and we really hope the owner will soon come to its senses.

Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Before the highly-anticipated Pagani C9 makes its debut in God-knows-when, the Italian supercar maker has decided to satiate our appetites once more with a very special edition Zonda that is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

Created as an homage to the Italian equivalent of the British Red Arrows Display team, known as the “Frecce Tricolori”, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore, which pretty much based on a Zonda Cinque, is a special edition Zonda that is built from a special carbon-titanium weave left bare except for a clear blue lacquer coating.

In addition to that, the Zonda Tricolore also come with a unique set of LED running lights and an exclusive red, white, and green trim – signifying Italy, of course – that runs up from the nose of the car all the way up along the top of the car’s surface.

Now, if you’re curious to know just how rare this special edition car is, consider the fact that Pagani is building all but one model of it and, to top it off, it’s priced at a bank account-depleting 1.3 million euros, or in the language of the Benjamins – $1.75 million

Stay tuned!
