Volkswagen CrossGolf
Word to all the fans of the Volkswagen Golf: the latest addition to the Volkswagen Golf line-up – the CrossGolf – will be revealed next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Placed between an MPV and an SUV, the new CrossGolf will be offered with both direct-injection turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, with the output reaching up to 160 horsepower. All engine variants will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox and with the exception of the 105 horsepower TSI, all units can also be mated to an optional 7-speed DSG.
Like all the new Volkswagen models that have been released recently, the CrossGolf is defined by the horizontally-aligned band of the radiator grille between the headlights, which is reflected to the horizontal form of the front bumper. The interior gets sport seats (front) with two-tone fabric covers and a “small leather package” with a three-spoke steering wheel, gearshift lever trim and grip-in leather.
Shortly after its debut in Geneva next week, the Volkswagen CrossGolf is expected to go on sale a one month later in April.
Press release after the jump.

LA 2009: Buick rendering teases new compact sedan
Filed under: LA Auto Show, Sedan, Buick, Luxury
Buick officially took the wraps of its 2011 Regal at the LA Auto Show, and in addition to showing off its sportier side, General Motors’ reborn Lexus competitor confirmed its intentions to produce a compact sedan – and here’s the first rendering.
Likely based on the Chinese market 2011 Buick Excelle XT (a rebadged Opel Astra with an upmarket interior), the new compact four-door is expected to lose its hatch in favor of a traditional trunk and gain a 181 horsepower, 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The sketch above (flashed on screen during the Regal unveiling here in LA) certainly bears a resemblance to the Excelle and to the larger LaCrosse, although a few tweaks to the fascia, headlamps and the addition of a few hood-mounted portholes could be found on the concept and later, the production model. We should know more later this year, when Buick unveils an official design study followed by the eventual production car that is expected by the end of 2010.

Ferrari Mondial T
The last of the Mondial series was revealed in 1989. Called Mondial T it was the most heavily revised Mondial, with letter “T” inspired by the F1 312 T single-seater, which had just won the Formula 1 World Championship and also used the longitudinal engine/transverse gearbox layout: the previously-transverse engine was now mounted longitudinally whilst the gearbox remained transverse, thus forming a ’t’.
Production last between 1983 to 1993, with 858 units produced in both right and left hand drive configurations, together with various world market specification models.
The new Mondial T was finally worthing the “Ferrari” name and was able to compete with supercars such as the BMW 850i, Chevrolet Corvette, Honda NSX, Lotus Esprit and Porsche 911 Carrera.
Besides using a longitudinal engine/transverse gearbox layout, Mondial T was also offering for the first time: power assisted steering, and had a 3-position electronically controlled suspension for a variable trade off between ride quality and road holding. It also had standard ABS.
