Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Before the highly-anticipated Pagani C9 makes its debut in God-knows-when, the Italian supercar maker has decided to satiate our appetites once more with a very special edition Zonda that is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

Created as an homage to the Italian equivalent of the British Red Arrows Display team, known as the “Frecce Tricolori”, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore, which pretty much based on a Zonda Cinque, is a special edition Zonda that is built from a special carbon-titanium weave left bare except for a clear blue lacquer coating.

In addition to that, the Zonda Tricolore also come with a unique set of LED running lights and an exclusive red, white, and green trim – signifying Italy, of course – that runs up from the nose of the car all the way up along the top of the car’s surface.

Now, if you’re curious to know just how rare this special edition car is, consider the fact that Pagani is building all but one model of it and, to top it off, it’s priced at a bank account-depleting 1.3 million euros, or in the language of the Benjamins – $1.75 million

Stay tuned!

In a country like Singapore, the Chinese New Year is a pretty big deal so much so that everybody comes out of their houses in their best garb and eats at the fanciest of restaurants while driving the most exotic of cars. Care to venture a guess as to where were going with this?

One of the most important parts of the Chinese New Year in Singapore is the ‘Lou Hei’ Dinner and for this year, the ‘Lou Hei’ Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Singapore was well-attended by the haves and the have-mores and as this video will tell you, these people have some pretty sick and nasty rides. LA 2009: Galpin Motors makes up for Aston Martin no-show, brings the whole lineup

Galpin Aston Martin at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show – Click above for a high-res image gallery

It’s been a meager LA Auto Show this year for exotic cars. Many didn’t even show up, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bentley. Aston Martin wasn’t on the list as well, but to our surprise their full line of cars was on display. Apparently Galpin Motors decided to pick up the slack and brought a decent selection of the inventory from the Van Nuys, CA showroom. We generally don’t think of Aston Martin when we hear about Galpin, but the world’s largest Ford dealer also has an impressive showroom for the British marque. In fact, it’s where we were able to get up close and personal with the Aston Martin One-77.

Beau Boeckmann, Vice President of Galpin Motors, told us that they considered the show important enough for their Aston Martin sales to make the investment. This makes us wonder how the absence of Ferrari, Lamborghini and the like will impact local dealers. If so, we can see many following Galpin’s lead and bringing cars next year like many of the regional shows. Only time will tell, but we can’t imagine the exotic car manufacturers staying away from the auto show in one of their most important markets for too long.

Video: Parade of exotic cars go for a ride in Malibu

These days, exotic car runs in Southern California have become so widespread it seems that one happens every so often. That, in part, can be explained considering that SoCal isn’t exactly a farmyard barn – with all the rich and famous proliferating the area, it has become one of those places that are considered as playground for the have’s and the have-more’s.

If this were, say, Kansas, then the sight of a parade of some of the most expensive cars in the world would probably leave you questioning your sanity for the rest of your life. But this is California. With all these rich people in one area, you can expect that a lot of these people have – at one point –splurged on an exotic car – or three.

This particular exotic car run, which runs from Beverly Hills to Malibu, was organized by the folks from L4P, and it brought with it a steady diet of Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, Porsche’s, McLaren’s and a host of other exclusive cars that would make a pistonhead drop to his knees and weep.

Ok, we’re kidding about the weeping part; they were just little sobs of envy.

Hear it roar: The Maserati GranCabrio Experience

Ask any real piston-head who lives and breathes grease oil and they’ll tell you that there’s no more invigorating, satisfying, and relaxing sound than the monstrous roar of an unbridled V8 engine piercing the road.

Ok, maybe there’s also the sound of hoots and whistles from people who wish they had your ride. That’s a pretty awesome thing to hear too.

But even that is a distant second to hearing something along the lines of a 2011 V8 Maserati GranCabrio in all its uninhibited glory.

Close your eyes and listen. It’s music to our ears.
