Dakar Yellow BMW M3 spotted in SoCal
Frozen Gray matte finish on a BMW M3 with pricey upkeep and detailed instructions? Who wants to deal with that?! We like this little beauty that was found at South Bay BMW in Torrance by Autospies. This Dakar Yellow paint job is $5,000 and worth every penny.
Pay $5,400 and you will not only get this spectacular paint job, but the Dakar Yellow BMW M3 will also come with an extensive carbon treatment, including a CF rear spoiler, CF mirror caps, and CF front splitters, black kidney grills, and a black powder coated rim set.
The total package, including the BMW M3, comes to a staggering $83,980. Yeah, the price may be a little – okay, a lot – out there, but then again, you can see your M3 in a color that is fitting for a vehicle such as this one. Whoever said matte gray was a good idea? They should have stuck with the vibrant colors of the past such as Phoenix Yellow, Daytona Violet, Estoril Blue, Laguna Seca Blue, and so on. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Video: BMW’s "Joy Campaign" goes 3D in Singapore
Try watching this video of BMW’s new viral marketing ad and write about it the best way you can. If you end up at a loss for words, then you’re not alone. We tried doing it and we ended up rehashing one word over and over and over again: wow.
We’ve seen some pretty good ones, but this one -this one! – totally blew us out of the water. It’s not so much that the whole concept was unbelievable – it was – but more so because it was done using a 3D Projection, which, if you haven’t seen yet, we suggest you do so at the soonest possible time. Like, um, right now.
The 3D show featuring BMW’s ’Joy Campaign’ happened at the Suntec City in Singapore a few weeks ago. Why it didn’t make its way into the Web sooner, I have no idea. However, judging from the looks on the faces of the people who were mesmerized by the whole spectacle, it probably took them a few days to digest everything they just saw. Trust us, it’s a video that is worth watching multiple times over because to be honest, we’ve watched it about 21 times already, and we’re not even exaggerating.

BMW 135i by Superchips
Sure, many cars can get boosted, tweaked, modified, etc, but the question for today is whether they should or not. BMW decided not to create an M-version for the 135i because they stated that customers should be content with the amount of power the hatchback had to offer to begin with. Think about it; the one thing the BMW 1-Series is not is a sports car. Well, apparently the British tuner, Superchips, has decided to turn it into one with its new tuning package.
This simple package upgrades the 135i’s power to an impressive 360 HP. In order to obtain that upgrade, the tuner made a few ECU changes to the ignition, fueling, and turbo. The result of electronically toying with the car’s engine takes the standard 3.0-liter six cylinder twin turbocharged engine from 315 HP to 360 HP and from 394 Nm to 456 Nm at just 3359 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 5.3 seconds, while the top speed remains limited to 155 mph.
The great thing about this package is that it is only £445.00 including VAT and it comes with a 12-month/30,000 mile guarantee.
Press release after the jump.

Video: BMW Z4 GT3 at Nurburgring
This is a pretty cool video presenting the BMW Z4 GT3 at Nurburgring with Richard Goransson behind the wheel. It’s not just like every other video showing the car racing around the track. This video provides an in-car perspective with the use of a videocamera mounted inside the car. The sounds of the car are a little high-pitched and eerie, but the sights are pretty decent.
The BMW Z4 GT3 is powered by a 4-liter, eight-cylinder engine equipped with a 408 ECU and a Power400 control unit. The engine delivers a total of 480 bhp and is mated to a sequential, six-speed gearbox.

Chinese built Audi Q5 to launch in April
Audi understands that the Chinese market is one of the largest markets in the world for its cars, the people simply adore those four shiny interlaced rings, the Audi A4 and A6 have become the car of choice for China’s mid to upper level middle class as well as the ruling elite. Early last year Audi announced that its first premium compact SUV, the Audi Q5, would be built in China in 2010 to avoid the pesky import tax which makes its cars rather expensive when compared to locally built …
Non-commissioned BMW viral video asks, "why buy a BMW?"
For the record, this BMW viral video, which has been circulating the Internet for quite some time now, was not paid for or made or even associated with BMW. The car manufacturer has made it abundantly clear that they did not make this video nor do they endorse the things that are included in it.
That being said, we have no idea why BMW won’t endorse a video that put them in such a good light, to the point where it pretty much covered all its bases to promote BMW in just a little under four minutes.
Maybe it’s because of the cartoonish way the ad was created or maybe it was a case of tooting one’s horn a little too much. Either way, this BMW viral video does present the whole image of BMW as a brand committed to giving its customers the safest and highest quality car out on the market these days.
Check it out and see for yourself. We’re confident that after seeing it, you’re going to be asking the same questions we asked when we first saw it. If this ad spoke glowingly of BMW, why couldn’t those guys acknowledge the people behind this video.
After all, they did nothing but make BMW look like the best car brand in the world.

BMW has big plans for 2011 but no news about an M5
The German automaker BMW has quite a bit in store for the upcoming model year, from the Z4 hard top roadster to the 335is that squeezes into the range right below the factory tuned track day special M3, there is even an all new set of twin scroll turbochargers bolted to the 3.0 Liter straight six that will spool up faster offering even more power off the line as well as improved efficiency. However one member of the Bavarian lineup that the luxury automaker is keeping a bit tight lipped about is the upcoming M5.
With the current trend favoring fuel economy over sheer horse power, automakers around the world are downsizing their engine lineups in order to meet stringent efficiency regulations and that means that the current 500 HP V10 found under the hood of the high performance four door is more than likely to go the way of the dinosaurs. BMW states that “a new M5 Sedan based on the upcoming 6th generation 5 Series is planned but not ready to be unveiled yet,” this means that BMW either has something big in the works or they don’t want to rain on the all new 5 Series GT’s parade.
However in these fossil fuel conserving times BMW was already expected to drop the high revving teen cylinder in favor of a twin turbo V8, similar to the setup found under the hood of the X5 M and X6 M, but don’t expect for the future M5 to make anything less then the current M5, and should remain somewhere in the 550 HP range if they want to stay competitive with their German rival, the 572 HP Audi RS6. Nevertheless you should remember Toyota’s fifth generation Supra turbo, powered by a stout 3.0 Liter straight six and capable of making as much as 1000 HP without even having to crack open the engine. The inline configuration has long been considered the perfect configuration because of its ability to rev smoothly and if BMW can apply some of their new twin scroll technology to the next generation M5, loads of power shouldn’t be that far off.
